Adobe Signature Collection - Ocean Planets

In 2025 i had the fantastic opportunity to create my own Substance Source Signature Collection in collaboration with the Adobe Substance 3D team.
My collection is a series of 10 fully parametric substance files that cover celestial objects and surfaces - from big objects like stars to closeups of the inside of a meteorite. To learn more about the project please read the accompanying article on Behance:

The ocean planet substance is based on satellite images of Earth. It is fully parametric and versatile. It can be used to create desert, ice, water and jungle planets. There is an option to add a civilization with cities and highways.

For the 2D planet substances i created a regular tiling material first. It then gets fed into two custom filters that i created for this project. The first one projects the material onto a half globe shape. The second one renders an atmosphere on top.

A regular tiling material is the base for the projection. This image shows a part of a basecolor map.
